Error when trying to delete user

I created many test users in my application while trying to get a custom registration process to work, and now I would like to delete those users so they don't use up space in my database. When I go into the aspnet_Users table and try to delete a user, it gives me the following error:

----------

DELETE statement conflicted with COLUMN REFERENCE constraint 'FK__aspnet_Me__UserI__0F975522'. The conflict occurred in database 'DB_83996', table 'aspnet_Membership', column 'UserId'.

DELETE FROM [DB_83996].[dbo].[aspnet_Users] WHERE 1=0 OR ( [UserId] = '{7E864A07-6FE8-46EF-A2B8-354646D57C76}' )

----------

I don't know much about SQL statements, so is that statement it gave me the statement I need to use to delete that particular user? If not, how would I go about deleting these users I don't need anymore?

Thanks so much. :)

your table "aspnet_Membership" contains records that reference the user record you are trying to delete.

you will need to delete those records first.

|||Thanks. I could have sworn I tried that before because I knew those two tables were linked. Maybe it was something else I tried. Oh well. Thanks!!

error when trying to delete record

Windows 2000 Server sp4, SQL Server 2000 sp3
I get the error below when attempting to delete a record from a table called
Monitor directly from Enterprise Manager GUI.
error:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server][Invalid Obje
ct Name]
'tsvw_KJDKFAJDFKJAKLFDJKLAJDFKJASKFDJKAJ
DF'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server][Invalid Obje
ct
Name]UserA.Monitor
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server][Invalid Obje
ct Name]
'ctsv_DKFJDKJFKDJFKDKFJDKJFIEJIEJIEJFIEJ
FKJDKJ'
The KDJFKDJFKJDF above is obviously not exact. The actual error contains a
long string of random characters though.. If i'm not mistaken these are
system generated names for views related to replication.
1) could this be replication related?
2) Important note: UserA is NOT the current owner of the Monitor table!
UserA used to own the table but due to replication issues the owner was
changed to dbo a long time ago. ' Can I safely run the sp_changeobjectowner
procedure specifying dbo again or would I need to drop the merge replication
in order to do that?
3) I verified that the tsvw_ect... and the ctsv_ect... do not exist in the
database?
any suggestions about how to get to the bottom of this would be GREATLY
appreciated. Thanks.It seems you have some "invalid" merge triggers (probably from a previous
publication). Did you republish after changing your table owner name? If
you do have invalid triggers, you should consider dropping and recreating
your publication.
A. Drop the subscription
B. Drop the publication.
C. Delete the triggers that reference the non-existant views
D. Recreate the publication and subscription.
E. Run the snapshot.

setup but what you said is exactly what happened. I had an issue removing
repl before due to the owner of the tables not being dbo. I had to manually
clean out repl.. change table owners to dbo.. and recreate the replication.
It looks like one of the triggers from the older repl setup was still there.
I found the old trigger and deleted it. It was obvious it was old because it
referenced the old user name. There were the 3 correct triggers on the table
as well. One each for insert, update, and delete. So what was happening was
this: there was the old delete trigger on this table and it was listed first
so it executed and failed. The correct trigger never fired then. Now that
old trigger is gone and all works fine.
thanks again.

Error when deleting report in Report Manager and SQL Management Studio

I am getting a rsInternalError when I try to delete a report in Report Manager and SQL Management Studio. I am able to deploy, move (as long as the report doesn't exist at the destination) and upload but not delete.

This is the error dump:

Just a few things that might be worth doing.

Have you got all of the latest Service Packs installed? That is Service Pack 2 for SQL Server 2005.

Are you an Administrator, Content Manager or Publisher in Report Manager? You could check the Site Settings then look at the 3 links in the Security pane to make sure you are allocated the correct levels of security to complete the tasks.

Yes, I have Service Pack 2 installed for SQL Server 2005 (vers. 9.00.3050) and all the permissions are setup correctly. I'm setup as the browser, content manager, my reports, publisher and report builder. I'm also part of the Administrators group.

Has anyone figured this out yet? I have the same problem. I have SP2 installed and have all roles assigned to my user account. No one else (admins and such) can delete either. We can do everything else such as deploy and run, but not delete.

I turned off the global "NOCOUNT" for SQL Server and this fixed my problem.

Graham

Yes, I have Service Pack 2 installed for SQL Server 2005 (vers. 9.00.3050) and all the permissions are setup correctly. I'm setup as the browser, content manager, my reports, publisher and report builder. I'm also part of the Administrators group.

Lori

|||

Has anyone figured this out yet? I have the same problem. I have SP2 installed and have all roles assigned to my user account. No one else (admins and such) can delete either. We can do everything else such as deploy and run, but not delete.

|||

I turned off the global "NOCOUNT" for SQL Server and this fixed my problem.

Error when deleting a folder in Report Manager

Hi
I received the error message pasted below, when I tried to delete a folder
through Report Manager. There have been no problems deleting folders, until
now. (SP1 has not, as of yet, been applied)
Does anyone know what could cause this error and what the best solution is
in the event it happens again?

Error when attempting to delete rows

I have a log table with no indexes, triggers, or keys. During the course of development, I will clean out the entries by selecting all the rows (in Database Explorer) and hitting the delete key.

Occassionally, I will end up with couple rows (out of many) that won't delete. I get the following error when I attempt to delete the "affected" rows:

A problem occurred attempting to delete row 1.
Error Source: Microosft.VisualStudio.DataTools.
Error Message: The row value(s) updated or deleted either do not make the
unique or they alter multiple rows (2 rows).

I'm also not able to modify any of the data of the affected rows. There don't seem to be anything really special or unique about these affected rows (compared to the ones I'm able to delete). I've tried rebooting the machine and that did resolve the issue.

This is the second time I've encountered this issue. By any chance, is this a known bug with the beta (it's SQL Server 2005 June CTP)? Or is it some else I'm not aware of?

I've also tried deleting the rows using SQL Server Management, same results.

RichardCan you run SQL Profiler to check the different events executing while you delete these records? There must be something happening in the background that is causing all these.|||

Did you ever get the problem resolved? I am having the same problem.

Thanks, Bob

|||

Does the table have a primary key or unique constraint?

|||I just saw this. I'm sure it was resolved since the post was awhile ago, but that error message can occur if there is a constraint which the deletion violates. A common one might be that a field is set to "NOT NULL".

Error Updating DB2 on MVS-MF from a Linked Server

Need to be able to run update queries on DB2 on IBM MF from a Linked Server. Select and Insert queries work but Update and Delete queries don't. DB2 connect is installed and ODBC System dsn's are created for DEV and Production DB2 environments.

The ODBC drivers can be selected when running Imports/Exports but can't be specified through a linked server.

Any Ideas?

Tom...

Linked Servers do not directly support ODBC drivers, but you can plug in ODBC drivers by using a OLE DB to ODBC bridge technology 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC (MSDASQL)'. This componentships with MDAC but is not available on 64-bit at this time.

Although option would be to use Microsoft's DB2 OLE DB Provider directly with Linked Server available for download on http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=50b97994-8453-4998-8226-fa42ec403d17&DisplayLang=en

Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2

The Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 is a COM component for integrating vital data stored in IBM DB2 databases with new solutions based on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition and Developer Edition. SQL Server developers and administrators can use the provider with Integration Services, Analysis Services, Replication, Reporting Services, and Distributed Query Processor. Run the self-extracting download package to create an installation folder. The single setup program will install the provider and tools on x86, x64, and IA64 computers. The package includes product updates in the form of an integrated Service Pack 1. Read the installation guide and Readme for more information.

Error trapping of datasource control

Hello,

I encountered an interesting situation. I have a gridview and a sqldatasource. It has delete function. When I delete a record an error of foreign key violation is raised. I would like to trap this error and give a user friendly message to the user.

If I use ADO.Net I can use Try/Catch, but it seems there is no way to do the same thing using datasource. Anyone knows?

Thank you,

J

void CustomersGridView_RowDeleted(Object sender, GridViewDeletedEventArgs e)
{

// Display whether the delete operation succeeded.
if(e.Exception ==null)
{
Message.Text ="Row deleted successfully.";
}
else
{
Message.Text ="An error occurredwhile attempting to delete the row.";
e.ExceptionHandled =true;
}

}

Take a look@.MSDNhttp://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.gridview.rowdeleted.aspx
|||

Hosam,

Thank you for the reply. It helps, but I would like to get more specific message and give users a friendly message based on that. That is, how can I know the exception is raised due to foreign key violation specifically for example?

Or is there any way to trap the error message passed by a stored procedure?

Thank you,

J

|||

What about check forConstraintException

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.data(VS.71).aspx

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.data.constraintexception(VS.71).aspx

|||

That is a good suggestion. I will read them.

By the way, thinking for a little time your previous answer does not make sense. The exception is handled after row is ALREADY deleted?

|||

But note that if this exception was thrown nor record will be deleted as the constraint will prevent this.

So if the exception exists no records actually deleted.

|||

Thank you, Hosam.

I tested with detailsview's inserted event, but it did not work. However, what you were saying makes sense as well. I will look into details. If I find more new things, I wll post it here. Thank you.

Error SQL server when try to select or delete or add new

when i try to get data or insert new from some table.

SQL show this message error

Server: Msg 3624, Level 20, State 1, Line 1
Location: q:\SPHINX\NTDBMS\storeng\drs\include\record.inl:1447
Expression: m_SizeRec > 0 && m_SizeRec <= MAXDATAROW
SPID: 52
Process ID: 2116

Connection Broken
-

how to fix this problem ? These table have around 2,900,000 records.

thanks.

Unfortunately, that seems like some form of data corruption. Try running DBCC CHECKDB and DBCC CHECKTABLE to see if you can locate the inconsistency errors. It may be that you'll have to perform a restore from a backup or perhaps a REPAIR_REBUILD will solve the problem.

Check Books Online for further information on the commands.

error S0022 while deleting

Hi,
I have this query to delete a company and it goes like
this:
<cfquery ......>
delete from companies
where companyname = '#url.object#'
</cfquery>
I end up getting the error code S0022 column not found
and it goes on to say
Invalid column name 'companyname'.
I went to SQL server and typed in a query:
delete from companies
where companyname = 'somecompany'
it still gave me the same error.
I used to have companyname as the PK but now it's
companyid.
so i tried using companyid in the where clause and it
still gave me the same error even
in sql server. Usually this error has to do with quotes
but since i'm typing the query straight
into sql server and running it properly and it doesn't
work, it must be something else.
Please advise.
Thanks,
PremSQL Server doesn't have errors like S0022. What do you mean that you went to
SQL Server? Do you mean to the SQL Server machine? Or do you mean Query
Analyzer, which is a client tool for communicating with SQL Server? Can you
please post the exact error message that you copy and paste from Query
Analyzer.
If you meant 50022, then it is a user defined error, and my guess would be
that there is delete trigger on the table.

me the message:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid
column name 'companyname'.
When I run it on SQL query analyser it says:
Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 3, Procedure
trigger_delete_companyname, Line 6
Invalid column name 'companyname'.
So it must be the trigger as mentioned above. I'm not too
familiar with SQL server. Where are the triggers
accessible from? I'm looking under stored procedures in
sql enterprise manager and can't see it under there.
