Error when trying to save report in pdf
designer. Then I wrote another class that downloads the result into
pdf and excel formats. When I run the program, the excel file opens
fine but the pdf says "there was an error opening this document. the
file is damaged and cannot be repaired". I have seen other forums with
the same issue and microsoft is yet to provide an answer to this
problem. Can someone help please? Any suggestions are well appreciated.
Thanks. There are a variety of reasons this could happen. I'd start by first
looking at the Report Server log file and see what exception (if any) occurs
when you render to PDF. Secondly, I'd dump the PDF into notepad and see if
there are any errors embedded at the end of the stream.

Looking at the pdf created in NotePad: Starts with
%PDF-1.3%
1 0 obj [/PDF /Text /ImageB /ImageC /ImageI] . . . has a bunch of stuff . . .
"ends" trailer << /Size 10 /Root 8 0 R/Info 9 0 R >>
startxref
3893
%%EOF
then after the EOF is a full dump of the HTML code:
%%EOF
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<title> . . .
I've asked the database manager to look at the reporting services logs but
if this gives anyone a clue to the cause/solution . . .

Error when opening Designer
When I try to open the designer (with exiting, e.g. tutorial or new project/package) I get the following error message:
Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document:
Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list.
After closing the project I have the following application event log error:
Faulting application devenv.exe, version 8.0.50727.42, stamp 4333e699, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x014fb87c.
I had the same problem. Any ideas anyone?|||I found the answer. Reformat and reinstall everything. As far as I can tell that is the only solution.|||
Did you find a solution to this? I am experiencing the same problem and hoping that a reformat and reload is not the only path.
Thanks
Richard

Error when creating new connection in DTS Designer
64b SQL2005 EE and all clent tools installed on the same server. Im trying to create a new connection in DTS Designer but after succesful test of the connection it errors out with
The new connection manager couldnt be created. Additional info : Exeption from HRESULT 0xC0010014
Any idea whats the problem here?
This might be caused by a problem described here:

|||Im logged in with local admin account. Does that count? Still SSIS is running under Network Servise|||Usually the service does the component enumeration and caches the results, so this is performed without admin rights. You can check if this is an issue by temporary disabling the service, and trying this again (restart BIDS first). If this is caused by permission issue, you'll likely succeed because BIDS will do the component enumeration itself (this harms performance, but avoids Network Service restrictions).Friday, February 24, 2012
Error Trying to Import MS Access 2003 database via SQL Server Import and Export Wizard - Too man
I am trying to simplify a query given to me by one of my collegues written using the query designer of Access. Looking at the query there seem to be some syntax differences, so to see if this was the case I thought I would import the database to my SQL Server Developer edition.
I tried to start the wizard from within SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown in one of the articles on MSDN which did not work, but the manual method also suggested did work.
Trouble is that it gets most of the way through the import until it spews forth the following error messages:
- Prepare for Execute (Error)
Messages
Error 0xc0202009: {332B4EB1-AF51-4FFF-A3C9-3AEE594FCB11}: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Could not start session. Too many sessions already active.".

Error 0xc020801c: Data Flow Task: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "SourceConnectionOLEDB" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

Error 0xc004701a: Data Flow Task: component "Source 33 - ATable" (2065) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020801C.
(SQL Server Import and Export Wizard).
There does not seem to be any method of specifying a number of sessions, so I don't see how to get round the problem.
Does anyone know how I can get the import to work?
try clicking the "optimize for many tables" checkbox on the wizard screen where you select the tables to move. that will move the tables one at a time instead of trying to do them all in parallel.|||Even after I tick the checkbox in the grey header control that selects all the tables in the database, the "optimize for many tables" checkbox on the wizard screen is greyed out.Error Trying to Import MS Access 2003 database via SQL Server Import and Export Wizard - Too
