Error when upsizing Access 2K Database

When I try to upsize an Access 2K database, I get the following two errors,
one after the other:
SQL Server does no exist or access denied.
The Upsizing Wizard only works with MS SQL Server (Versions 6.50 SP5 or
higher). Please log onto a SQL Server data source.
I doesn't matter whether I login as 'sa' or use a trusted connection, create
a new database or use an existing one, or use '(local)' or the name of my
computer as the server name. If trying to use an existing database, I am
using a File Data Source that appears to work just fine elswhere (test
connection returns success, and I can import/link tables in an Access
database). I have read the KB article that says to use a file DS, but that
hasn't helped. I have even tried a machine DS, but same errors.
I am the dbo of the existing database, and I and the sa account should have
database create priviliges. I can create databases and tables in SQL
Enterprise manager just fine.
I get these same two errors if I try to create a new adp file and selecting
New Database. I am using XPPro and Office XP Developer Edition.
Thanks. You might find this page helpful troubleshooting the upwiz:

FWIW, the upsizing wizard does not do a very good job of migrating
from Access/Jet to SQL Server even when it does work. It creates an
unholy mess of triggers, views and inefficient data type conversions.
You'd be better off recreating the schema in SQL Server to take
advantage of SQLS features like constraints and stored procedures, and
then migrate the data using DTS or even queries from linked tables.

Hi,
I developp a C/S soft for a client with MSDE. I install it on its computer (Win2k) and it can not reboot.
list of errors :
error when calling Dllregisterserver in c:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\system\ADO\...
msado15.dll hresult 80070005
msador15.dll hresult 8002801C
msadrh15.dll hresult 80004005
msadomd.dll hresult 80020009
msadox.dll hresult 8002801C
msjro.dll hresult 80020009
(sorry it's french translation ;o))
There are no pb with my computer(and with all I test !!!) and I expect a pb of MDAC version (mine is 2.7 SP1 refresh).
Has somebody the same pb ?
JC
It does look like a problem with mdac. I suggest you update it.

|||thanks...but...
I just have a phonecall with the informatic system manager.
It seems not to be a pb of MDAC version but a conflict with a Pocket PC and (for me) due to the install of MSDE, especially with the evolution of the MDAC. The local user settings are corrupt...not the local machine settings.
I suppose the MDAC 2.7 SP1 Refresh is not compatible with activesync 3.5...and I will look for known bugs on the web
Tch?

|||Bonjour JC,
Like you I have just installed MSDE into Win2k and I get exactly the same error report as yourself at startup but with a different set of DLLs. msado15, msadox, mscidce, msadds, msdapfst, msdarem, msdfmap. I can get through the problem and login using my normal profile but problems like Windows Explorer not navigating correctly and locking up occur. Unlike you, I am no expert in this area, the machine is simply my own home setup.
Since you posted this problem, have you managed to learn anything more about a solution which may point me in the right direction?
Merci beaucoup,
AB

Error source KDC

I'm getting errors in the W2000 SystemLog containing a error with source
KDC. The description of the alert is:
There are multiple accounts with name MSSQLSvc/TEST-SERVER.didoc.local:1433
of type 10
And guess what? This user doesn't even exist.
The questions are:
what is KDC? and what does this alert mean?
Thanks,

<<<<<<<<<<< Multiply Accounts with the Domain have been configured as a
SQL Service
account for the Servername server. This causes both service accounts to
have the same
SPN registered.
If the accounts are known then use ADSI (Active Directory Serivces) edit
and remove
then SPN on the account that is no longer used to start the service on
servername. An
approach you can take would be to run LDP.exe (a utility available from
the Windows
2000 resource kit). This utility is documented within the following
articles. I am
also posting possible steps you can take to resolve this using LDP:
Q224543 Using Ldp.exe to Find Data in the Active Directory
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...b;EN-US;Q224543
Q260745 XADM: Using LDP to Modify Active Directory Object Attributes
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...b;EN-US;Q260745
Use LDP.EXE to determine the location of the duplicate name:
1. Click Start & select Run.
2. Type LDP and click OK.
3. Click Connection and select Connect.
4. Leaving the Server field blank, click OK.
5. Click Connection and select Bind.
6. Leaving all fields blank, click OK.
7. Click View and select Tree.
8. Set the Base DN as DC=Home, DC=com
9. Click Browse and select Search.
10. Set the Base DN as DC=Home, DC=com.
11. Set the filter as the following:
(serviceprincipalname=HOST/BOT-PC0295.home.com )
12. Set Scope to Subtree.
13. Click Run.
In either case, this indicates that you have a duplicate machine name
registered
within the Active Directory on your domain.
HTH...
Sincerely,
