error when trying to browse SSRS on a remote machine

Hi,

I deployed SSRS reports to my local report server and set the connection string to access a server on the network with Analysis Server.

Result:
I can access and use the reports from my computer. But when I use any other computer on the network I can't use the reports. I can access them but they don't find the database ant therefor they don't present any data.

Error message as folows: "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help
Cannot create a connection to data source 'dsAnalys'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help
Database 'Analys' does not exist.
"

This works fine on my local machine, the error comes only when i try to browse on a remote machine. I am using SQL Server 2005

Any help would be appriciated!!!

Thanks in advance,

Chanduu

Can you access the database from a different PC using SQL Server Management Studio?

Possibly the server is not accessible from those PCs? Is it on a different domain?

|||yes, i am able to access|||

Chandu I am just trying to see what is causing this error.

1.) Do you have Shared Datasource in SSRS.

2.) While deploying to the remote server, make sure to include the right TargetServerUrl.

3.) On the Remote Server, go the Home folder and check for the DataSources if it has

a.) Enable this Data Source CheckBox checked.

b.) Connection string

c.) In the Connect Using: Check if the Credentials stored securely in the report server is Checked and the UserName and Password is given.

4.) Check for the permissions.

Hope this helps...

|||

Thanks a lot !!! friends .. I got answer for this error

Steps i followed to reslove this error

1. Goto http://<report server>/reports

2. Select the datasource folder

3. Check "Credentials stored in that report" and give valid user id and password

4. Check the check box"Use as windows credentials when connecting to datasource"

Error when connecting to server via SQL 2005 Management Studio in Object Explorer but not Query

Hi,

I'm getting the error below when I attempt to connect to a remote Sql 2005 server using Management Studio and the Object Explorer. The same error does not occur if I go through "New > Database Engine Query" and fill out the same connection dialog with the exact same information. FYI, I am connecting to the IP of an external SQL 2005 server via SQL Server Authentication, and there is some level of connection going on as connecting with the wrong authentication information gives me a standard authentication error even while using the Object Explorer dialog. I am able to do all operations I need in the database engine query window without problem.

Error when connecting remote SQL SERVER

Hi..

I have been assigned to make a database in some remote machine. The machine has MSSQL 2005.I need to connect to that remote machine's sql server via my pc using my SQL Management express.I do have that computer's IP address(say,123.456.789.000),and the username and password. But when i try to connect to the server ,I get the following error:

Cannot connect to 123.456.789.000\sqlexpress

An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL server 2005,this failure may be caused by the fact that unser the default settings SQL server does not allow remote connections,(provider: SQL Network Interfaces,error:26-Error Locating Server/Instance specified)(Microsoft SQL Server)

I am a new programmer and dont know much. But i guess the problem is not in my server but in that server to which i am trying to connect.I guess that server has some instance created or it does not allow remote connections. But i am not sure.Is it so?Or is anything wrong in my server.Any ideas?IF you put these errors into a search engine you should get a series of answers.
Anyhows...check this out.
I faced this issue , found out that I was under the Vista client category.

cheers

Error when connect to sql server 2005 using remote desktop

Hi all,
I am trying to connect to SQL Server 2005 from my computer using Remote

I checked the server settings, and it is allow remote connections. Anything
that I missed here?

Is the server running?
Do you specify the correct instance name?
Also, it could help if you could clarify the machines involved here. You
said that you are using Remote Desktop. That is, you do not run Mgmt
Studio or whatever you are trying to connect with from your own computer?
Is SQL Server running on the machine you connect to with Remote Desktop,
or is it on a third machine?

> How can I use cursor? Thanks
It is all in the error message. You have an updatable cursor on a linked
server. This requires a higher transaction isolation level than the
standard READ COMMITTED. You can change this with the command
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL.
Now, if the cursor code you have is authentic, there are alternatives.
You are not really using the updatability of the cursor, so you could
add FOR READ ONLY at the end of the cursor declaration.
I am also allergic against keyset-driven cursors. They often causes
nasty surprises. Add INSENSITIVE before the CURSOR keyword, and SQL
Server will copy the data into a temp table and work from there.
Finally:

I can't see any reason to use dynamic SQL here. Just run the delete
statement.
Or maybe even better: don't use a cursor at all, but just say:
DELETE temp_table
FROM temp_table t
WHERE EXISTS (SELECT * linkedserver1.import.user.table1 l
WHERE t.i = cast(l.id as varchar(100)
AND dt.date < convert(varchar(29), l.date, 126)
(Not also the change of format code. 126 works with all dateformat
settings; 121 does not.)

I am not quite familiar with cursor. I just use thebasic

updateable?
From BOL declare cursor, mine matches both sql92 and T-SQL

be read-only?

Good question. Had it been to me, the default would have been read-only
and insensitive. Updatable is bad, because in practice you very rarely
use this feature. I might update data in the table I'm iterating over,
but in such case I use keys and not WHERE CURRENT OF. And keyset is bad,
because sometimes due to the rules of keyset cursors, SQL Server might
need to resort to a real ugly query plan. (At least this happened in
SQL 6.5. I might not have seen in in SQL 2000, but I try to remember to
always use insensitive cursors.)
> From BOL declare cursor, mine matches both sql92 and T-SQL

I believe both INSENSITIVE and FOR READ ONLY conforms with SQL-92.
And, yes, using these are probably your second-best solution.
Your best solution is not use cursors at all, but use a set based
solution.

Error trying to execute a sp on a remote server with an SQL agent

Job 'bla' : Step 1, 'execute spbla' : Began Executing 2004-10-13 10:33:13
Msg 7410, Sev 16: Remote access not allowed for Windows NT user activated by
SETUSER. [SQLSTATE 42000]
I get the above error when I try to execute a sp sitting on a remote server
with a SQL Server Agent job.
The sp executes fine if I run it from Query analyser.
Maybe the problem lies with how my linked server is set up, or why does it
try to connect to the remote server with NT security and using SQL
authentication?
Can I force it to connect with SQL Authentication ?

Error Sending Email

Hello All
I have an issue sending email through a data driven subscription using
remote SMTP
ReportingServicesService!emailextension!4!12/13/2007-07:29:52:: Error
sending mail, CDO error -2147220977, will not resend
ReportingServicesService!emailextension!4!12/13/2007-07:29:52:: Error
sending email. System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004020F): The
server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was:
550 must be authenticated
at ReportingServicesCDOInterop.MessageClass.Send()
at
Microsoft.ReportingServices.EmailDeliveryProvider.EmailProvider.Deliver(Notification
notification)
I am logging to my m/c as a user with admin rights (No domain login). The
Reporting Service Service account is the same as login account. SQL agent
also runs as same user account.
SMTP is a ISP's. I have changed
<SendEmailToUserAlias>False</SendEmailToUserAlias>. In my Antivirus console
in Access protection I disabled prevent Mass Mailing worms from port 25. The
From Email is a valid email that I use with SMTP Server.
I am not sure how to resolve this authentication error. I have read
somewhere Reporting Service Service Account should have permission on SMTP
server. I don't know how this is possible with remote SMTP server.
Can someone help me with this? I have been trying to resolve this couple
of days now.
