error when trying to browse SSRS on a remote machine

Hi,

I deployed SSRS reports to my local report server and set the connection string to access a server on the network with Analysis Server.

Result:
I can access and use the reports from my computer. But when I use any other computer on the network I can't use the reports. I can access them but they don't find the database ant therefor they don't present any data.

Error message as folows: "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help
Cannot create a connection to data source 'dsAnalys'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help
Database 'Analys' does not exist.
"

This works fine on my local machine, the error comes only when i try to browse on a remote machine. I am using SQL Server 2005

Any help would be appriciated!!!

Thanks in advance,

Chanduu

Can you access the database from a different PC using SQL Server Management Studio?

Possibly the server is not accessible from those PCs? Is it on a different domain?

|||yes, i am able to access|||

Chandu I am just trying to see what is causing this error.

1.) Do you have Shared Datasource in SSRS.

2.) While deploying to the remote server, make sure to include the right TargetServerUrl.

3.) On the Remote Server, go the Home folder and check for the DataSources if it has

a.) Enable this Data Source CheckBox checked.

b.) Connection string

c.) In the Connect Using: Check if the Credentials stored securely in the report server is Checked and the UserName and Password is given.

4.) Check for the permissions.

Hope this helps...

|||

Thanks a lot !!! friends .. I got answer for this error

Steps i followed to reslove this error

1. Goto http://<report server>/reports

2. Select the datasource folder

3. Check "Credentials stored in that report" and give valid user id and password

4. Check the check box"Use as windows credentials when connecting to datasource"

Error when trying to access http://localhost/Reports

Hello,

I just recently installed SQL Express 2005 Reporting Services on a new OS "Vista Ultimate". I used for reference the video # 10 Getting Started with Reporting Services found in

SQL Server Videos - SQL Server 2005 Express for Beginners. I was finally able to install everthing, including creating a new project using Report Server Project Wizard.

The only problem I recieve when fallowing the video is opening IE and enteringhttp://localhost/Reports. What I recieve is an error"The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer."

I checked to see if the SQL Server Reporting Services was running which it was. I also checked the Default Web Site in IIS manger which was also running.

Any help would be much appreciated

Regards

Karl

May be the problem is just configuration check this link it might help you

Error when starting Report Manager

When trying to start report manager (http://localhost/reports) I get the following error. I have since given access to ASPNET and IUSR_<machinename> rights to the listed path & file, but still get same error. Any ideas? Thanks.

Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot_sps2003\web.config' is denied.

Source Error:

Source File: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot_sps2003\web.config Line: 0

Try giving the report server web service account read permission on the folder in the error message.

It's working. Since we have Sharepoint and other things on there I had to specify the port and sql instance: http://someservername:8080/Reports$sql2005 this worked! Report manager comes up now.

Thanks!

You'll need to do some more work to make things work reliably:

1) in the rsreportserver.config file, change URLRoot to include the URL above. This allows links in e-mail deliveries to be accurate.

2) check your report manager configuration file and see if you need to set the reportserverurl property rather than the reportservervirtualdirectory property - when using a custom port you usually need to use reportserverurl. Note that these elements are mutually exclusive.

Good to hear you're up and running.

Error when sending scheduled report

We are using SQL Server 2005 SP2. We have setup the RS smtp configuration
and we we have created scheduled reports, but we get an error when the
report is emailed. If I understand correctly, the account name/password
that is used for authentication is the account name used for the SQL Server
Reporting Services service. I have edit the rsreportserver.config file and
changed the SMTPAuthenticate to 2. The SMTP server is configured to point
to an external SMTP server.
The error we receive is: Failure sending mail: The message could not be sent
to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server
response was not available.Make sure that you don't have an antivirus/firewall blocking port 25 because
it sounds like your report server is not able to innitiate a connection to
the mail server. You can also try telnetting your smtp server from your
report server on port 25 by typing "telnet smtpservername 25" at the comand
prompt on the report server. If that commnad times out then you have a
netwroking problem whether it be a physical problem, a routing problem or a
firewall problem.

Could it be an authentication issue?

error when running reports

Hi all
Has anyone seen the following error - cannot run any reports - start then
crashes
Reporting Services Error
----
a.. An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for
more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help
a.. Invalid object name 'ReportServerTempDB.dbo.ExecutionCache'.
----
Microsoft Reporting Services
PeterThere seems to be a corruption with your temp DB. First check to see if
there is a ReportServerTempDB database. If so then check for the
ExecutionCache table, if it exist make sure the owner is dbo. If the DB
does not exist you can run the CatalogTempDB.sql script to create it. Make
sure to first create the DB as ReportServerTempDB and then create a Role
called RSExecRole, then you can run the script. You will also need to make
sure all the users that are in the RSExecRole in the ReportServer Database
are in the ReportServerTempDB's RSExecRole.
I hope that helps.

It happens when I run a report from Report Manager (or from within
RM3.0) - it starts off ok (view report) and then come up with this error -
If I create a new report in Visual Studio and run preview from there
everything is fine !!! - if I then import this into ReportManager and try to
run it comes up with this error - along with all the other reports currently
in ReportManager
Everything was working fine until the other day and as far as I know I've
done nothing to the server (don't even touch it) although we did have a
power outage when I wasn't here and the UPS expired - don't even know how
the TempDb went missing ( ps I'm the only one who uses the system - it is
my dev network etc )
I thought the collating seq may have been wrong so I checked with a VPC that
works and changed it to the same as the Report Server
Latin1_General_CI_Ai_KS_WS but made no difference
This box is SBS 2003 with SQL 2000 plus MS CRM 3.0 plus SSRS 2000 plus SP2
plus Visual Studio 2003

Peter Yang (MSFT)suggested checking that on the private newsgroup ( i
wasn't subscribed there before but I am now
ReportServer is Latin1_General CI_AS_KS_WS and the TempDB
Latin1_General_CI_AI_KS_WS -
I obviously made a mistake when I recreatedthe TempDB
Thank yuo for you help and assistance

Error when open Report Manager

RS is installed on the same server with the WebServer. I run this from a
domain network PC:
http://WebServerName/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
and I receive this error:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
What I checked:
1.On the WebServer go in IIS , then Default Web Site, then Reports, then
Proprieties, then Security and ONLY Integrated Windows Authentication is
checked
2. The save as above for ReportService under Default Web Site
3. Open Windows Explorer on the Web Server and go to C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportServer where
ReportService.asmx file is located. In the same folder have a look in
web.config file and:
<authentication mode="Windows" />
<identity impersonate="false" />
4 IIS is version 6
5. Web Server is Windows 2003
6. Went in Logs for RS and this is what I found:

7. Changed in IIS to use Anonymous access and then Report Manager opens
without error but there is no report there (only Home directory and that's
all). After working on this problem for a week, I found posting from Jonny W.

Error when i try to Deploy my reports to Reporting services - PLEASE HELP i'm also NEW at t

Hi

I'm running a SQL 2000 DB with reporting Services 2005 and Visual Studio 2005, I can connect and browse to Reporting Services through any management console and even to my site through //ServerName/Reports but when i try to deploy any of my reports to the Reporting Services through my VS2005 solution i get this error

A connection could not be made to the report server http://Forge/Reports.

Additional Information:

The Attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer)

The status of all of my things in Reporting Services Configuration is Green and i can see my site in the IIS, i can also browse my site, it just doesn't want2 deploy.

Please HELP!!!

I suspect the problem lies here:

>I'm running a SQL 2000 DB with reporting Services 2005 and Visual Studio 2005

and, considering the error:

>that the report server is a compatible version

I am thinking there is a problem with your deploying RS 2005 reports to a 2000 RS database. I wasn't aware you could deploy 2005 reports to a 2000 RS database. Maybe you can do it if you don't convert (existing 2000) reports, I am not sure; but I doubt you'll be able to deploy them if you have converted them from 2000 to 2005. I especially think and new reports will bomb out since they would be native 2005.

There are threads in this forum that talk about this subject.

|||Try deploying to http://forge/reportserver instead.|||wow. good eye!|||

Thanks for th information but it still gives me the same error, but don't worry too much about it, i'm just going to reinstall SQL 2000 RS with Visual Studio 2003. apparently there is some incompatibility issue between .Net Framework 2.0 and 1.1 that prevent my solutions from working properly, so until i figure out the exact problem and link the Frameworks manually in my solution i doubt that it will work.

Thanks a lot for your effort guys!

Hi

I traced down my problem, but i'll post my solution here just incase some else might battle with the same problem.

When i installed the RS i changed the Virtual Directory Name to Forge too, so when i deployed them i had to deploy them to Forge/Forge instead of Forge/ReportServer which it suppose to be by default. ->PC Name / ReportServer Virtual Directory<--

Error when exporting to PDF

I am having an issue exporting reports to PDF.

I am connecting to the report server via https and all of the reports I'm using are working fine, but when I try and export the reports to PDF I run into problems.

On one machine running XP when I try and export a report to PDF; it will let me open the PDF, but if I try and 'save' the PDF it gives me an error that the site cannot be found.

On another machine running Windows 2000, I cannot save or open the report when trying to export to PDF with the same site cannot be found popup from Internet Explorer.

Anyone know of anything special that I need to setup to get this working? Could this be a mime type issue on the server?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just to add to this..

I am able to export to PDF and open on a machine running Acrobat reader 5.0,and a machine running Acrobat reader 6.0 but not from any computer running Acrobat reader 7.0!

Any ideas?

Error when Exporting to Excel

For the last couple of weeks we've been experiencing problems when try to
export reports to Excel either from the VS IDE or the Report Manager Web.
After some tinkering and investigation (maybe more luck than judgement) we
found it to be an issue relating to Page Breaks on tables. If we unchecked
the 'Insert Page Break before this table' checkbox the report would function
correctly and export to Excel without any hassles.Hi - Any idea why the page break would cause a probem ? In my situation, it
is only a problem in a Matrix report ? it works fine for me in table reports.

error when exporting my report to excel

hi there,
i've a question about exporting reports to excel.
when i do this , i don't get the subreports to my excel !
i only get the mainreport.
what could i do ?
thanks patrick

Well, with all due respect maybe you answered your own question "Sub_Reports".

Within your primary report do you "call or navigate" to another report - if you do, these are "Sub Reports' and they will never get exported with your primary report..
I do not know for sure - I am just rying to help and not be rude within the process... Is there more information you may be able to provide?
Best Regards,
Joe

Error when executing Report

Hi all,
I have created about 40 reports that access our core ERP solution. All
these reports function perfectly. In the last day I have created 2 new
reports that access a different server/database thus a new shared datasource
was created. However, I am intermittantly receiving the following error
when I attempt to execute the two new reports:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get
Online Help
a.. Cannot create a connection to data source 'Blah2'.
(rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help
a.. SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
The reports function everytime in Visual Studio. What is going on?
Thanks
ClintSounds like a security issue. What does your datasource specify for a
username/password?

custom. The username and password are correct. I am at a loss..
Especially seeing how it is so intermittant.

reportserver, try inputting the connection info and then run the report. I
had the same issue, and the connection trying the dba changed pointed to a
different instance..

Error when creating schedule in Report Manager

Hello,

Scenario:

I am trying to set up a shared schedule in report manager after successfully deploying the reports to my server. I have set up the linked reports and AD permissions, however when I want to either set up a shared schedule, or an individual schedule I encounter the error below.

System details:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.2050.00 (Intel X86) Feb 13 2007 23:02:48 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4)

Report Manager Error:

An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) The specified @.category_id ('100') does not exist.

The error log does not contain any infor regarding this error, and I've searched for this error extensively in Google as well as microsoft.com, however can't seem to find a resolution for it.

I have also tried to create the schedule in SQL Server Management Studio. The complete error message is as follows:

An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) (Report Services SOAP Proxy Source)

Additional information:

An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) (ReportingServicesLibrary)

The specified @.category_id ('100') does not exist. () (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

Please could you send me any further info about how to solve this problem and resolve the error.

Thank you

Sune de Vos

Hi,
It looks like you did not have permission to setup category on database server in msdb.
try this:
use msdb

set IDENTITY_INSERT syscategories ON
insert into syscategories(category_id,category_class,category_type,name) values(100,1,1,'Report Server')
set IDENTITY_INSERT syscategories OFF

you need to be sysadmin to run this.
It seems to work after that - did not test how it will behave later, so be careful.
Best Regards

Error when calling a Sub report (Jump to report)

I have created a two reports with a parameterized query - one master and one sub report.
When I want to call the sub report from the master report I would like to be able to pass the values for the parameters in to the sub report.

And I also don′t want the passed parameters to be prompted in the sub report (so I blanked out the 'Prompt:' field).

But I got following error:
The report parameter 'parameter name' is read-only and cannot be modified.

What to do?

Running Report Server: 8.00.743.00

/Christofer

Instead of blanking the Prompt field, check the 'Hidden' checkbox.|||

Well...
Should it be in the Report Parameters dialog box where I define parameters?
If so, I can′t find this checkbox "Hidden" in my version, or where should I find it?

Christofer

Error when browsing the page http://localhost/reports

I have installed SQL Server Reporting service 2005 and when I am trying to

SQL Server 2005 is installed on different machine. I am installing SQL
Server Reporting service 2005 on CRM server. I have install/uninstall for a
number of times. Previously, it was working properly and after some
installaion/uninstallation, it has started giving the above error.Just to be sure where is can be the problem (network config, or installation
issue), have you tried to use the IP Address of the machine instead of
localhost?

Good luck

make sure all your Settings are pointing to the correct location. I found
this area to be extremely sensitive.

Error viewing reports

I have created a report, in SQL RS 2000, using My Windows Credentials.

ie under the datasource tab, I chose the "credentials stored securely in report server" OPTION. There I specified my user NT Credentials.

However, when I view the report, it gives me err

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help

Cannot create a connection to data source xxx. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help

Login failed for user xxxx

Pl advise.

Thanks.

Hello Tarana,

You need to check the box 'Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source' in the data source tab. Try that and see if it works.
